Article C8.5.4
CCU Antenna mounting
Chapter: C8
In Simple Terms
The CCU Antenna (a communication device on the car) must be mounted in the middle of the car (balanced left-to-right) and positioned in a specific zone toward the rear of the vehicle. Think of it like placing a radio antenna in a designated spot on the back half of the car to ensure proper communication.
- Antenna must be centered symmetrically on the car's centerline (Y = 0 plane)
- Horizontal position restricted between 350mm and 750mm back from the front reference point
- Vertical position restricted between 830mm and 970mm height from the car's baseline
- These positioning requirements ensure optimal FIA communication and prevent competitive advantages from antenna placement
Official FIA Text
The CCU Antenna must be mounted symmetrically about the plane Y = 0, with Point X between planes XC = 350 and XC = 750, and between planes Z = 830 and Z = 970.
