Article C8.6.2
Driver input devices connection
Chapter: C8
In Simple Terms
Each control a driver uses (like a button, paddle, or pedal) must connect directly to the car's standard computer system through just one input connection. This prevents drivers from using complex workarounds or multiple connections to control a single function.
- Every driver input device (switch, button, paddle, or pedal) requires its own single connection to the FIA Standard ECU
- Prevents teams from creating complex multi-input systems to control one function
- Ensures fair and standardized driver control systems across all teams
- Applies to all input devices without exception
Official FIA Text
Any single input device, including switch, button, paddle or pedal, used by the driver must be connected to a single analogue or digital input of the FIA Standard ECU.
