Article C9.5.1
Gearbox Layout
Chapter: C9
In Simple Terms
The gearbox must be properly aligned with the engine's crankshaft, with the main shaft centered on it and the secondary shaft positioned close to the car's centerline. The two shafts must be parallel and spaced 90-110mm apart, with gear pairs kept at a safe distance from the engine to prevent interference.
- Primary shaft must be concentric (perfectly aligned) with the engine crankshaft
- Secondary shaft must be within 30mm of the car's centerline (Y=0) and parallel to primary shaft
- Shafts must be spaced between 90-110mm apart to maintain proper gear spacing
- Forward gear pairs need at least 175mm clearance distance, and final drive must be centered within X=-60 to 60mm
