Article D10.3.2
Minor Overspend Breach - Sanctions
Chapter: D10
In Simple Terms
If a Formula 1 team slightly exceeds the spending budget (a Minor Overspend Breach), the Cost Cap Adjudication Panel will punish them with a financial penalty and potentially other minor sporting penalties. This is less severe than a Major Overspend Breach.
- A Minor Overspend Breach occurs when a team goes slightly over the cost cap limit
- The Cost Cap Adjudication Panel decides if a breach occurred and what penalties to impose
- Teams face a mandatory Financial Penalty plus any additional minor sporting penalties the Panel deems appropriate
- This rule ensures financial fairness and competitive balance across all F1 teams
