Article D8.5
Notification of apparent or alleged breaches
Chapter: D8
In Simple Terms
Before F1 can punish a team for breaking the cost cap rules, they must first check that the alleged breach happened within the allowed time period. The team then gets an Initial Notice to explain their side of the story. If the breach is confirmed, the team receives a Final Notice and either accepts the punishment or goes to an independent panel for a hearing.
- Cost Cap Administration must verify the breach is within the limitation period before taking action
- Teams receive an Initial Notice giving them a chance to respond to allegations
- If breach is confirmed, teams get a Final Notice with opportunity to accept the penalty (ABA) or request adjudication
- This process ensures due process and fairness before any penalties are applied
