Hearing Reopening

Chapter: D9

In Simple Terms

If the judges discover important new information while making their decision on a penalty, they can reopen the hearing to consider it. Both the team and the stewards get to present their arguments again based on this new evidence before a final decision is made.

  • Stewards can reopen a hearing if new facts come to light during deliberation
  • Both parties (team and stewards) must be notified and given opportunity to be heard again
  • This ensures fair consideration of all relevant evidence before final penalty decision
  • Reopening only occurs during the deliberation phase, not after decision is finalized
Official FIA Text
