Article C6.6.6
Fuel collector pressure increase
Chapter: C6
In Simple Terms
F1 teams can increase fuel pressure in the collector (where fuel is stored before use) using lift pumps and/or by applying air or hydraulic pressure. This helps move fuel efficiently through the fuel system during the race.
- Fuel collector pressure can be increased through lift pumps
- Air pressure on the fuel surface can be used to increase collector pressure
- Hydraulic oil or air pressure acting on a piston is an alternative method
- This regulation ensures controlled fuel delivery throughout the race
Official FIA Text
The pressure of the fuel inside the collector may be increased relative to the pressure in the fuel cell volume by the lift pumps and/or either: air pressure acting on the free surface of the fuel, or hydraulic oil or air pressure acting on a piston.
